Since the beginning of the pandemic, Sunny Health and Fitness has gained a lot of popularity among home gym owners who are looking for good quality home gym equipment that will help them train safely and comfortably from home. Its products are competitively priced and they work as expected for most of us unless you love to train hard. In that case, you should anyway be looking for an expensive heavy-duty product like the ones sold by Rogue, Eleiko, Titan Fitness, etc.
We have used quite a few products from this brand such as Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5639 Full Motion Rowing Machine, Sunny Health & Fitness SF-XF9925 Power Zone Strength Rack Power Cage, and Sunny Health & Fitness SF-XF9931 Power Zone Squat Stand Rack Power Cage. From our first-hand experience, we can confidently say that the products do lack finishing and aesthetic appeal but if you don’t care about these issues, they are one of the best investments you can make for your home gym.
In this article, we will be reviewing the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-BH6802 half rack. As obvious from its name, it has just two connected uprights unlike a full squat cage/power rack which has four connected posts. This half rack is meant for small home gyms where accommodating a full rack is not possible. It is also suitable for people who are not too much into weightlifting and yet need something to assist them with whatever they want to do.
Being a low-cost half rack like Fitness Reality Multi-Function Half Rack and Hulkfit Half Rack, it is suitable for beginners, intermediates, and recreational lifters. Lets learn more about its noteworthy features, possible flaws, and where it stands when compared with the other best half racks that we have selected for you.
Quick Review Summary

Sunny Health and Fitness SF-BH6802 half rack is an all-in-one equipment for your home gym
Titan T3 series half racks and Rogue Fitness SML Monster lite half racks come with only a pair of j-hooks. You have to buy everything separately including the spotter arms. But, the Sunny Health and Fitness half rack comes with a lot of add-ons such as spotter arms, landmine attachments, and band pegs. You can use these pegs to attach resistance bands and do a wide variety of resistance exercises including resistance band squats. The landmine attachment swivels in all directions so you can choose any position you want.
Sunny Health and Fitness SF-BH6802 half rack has weight pegs that you can use to weigh it down for additional safety. The base has anchoring holes and the manufacturer sends mounting hardware so you can bolt it to the floor or weightlifting platform to safely do pullups, chinups, and other bodyweight exercises. You can also add a cable pulley system in case you want to add some variety to your exercise routine.
What more can you expect from such an inexpensive half rack!
It is pretty easy to assemble
It comes with straightforward assembly instructions which eliminates guesswork. Numerous buyers have confirmed that the parts come well-sorted and you won’t find any mismatching holes or stripped screws. Depending on your assembly skills, you should be able to put it together in about 2 hours. There are two things that we recommend though; one is to take help from your friend or family member and the second recommendation is to use your own tools because the ones that the manufacturer sends are thin and pretty much useless.
You may not be able to add replacements and accessories of your choice due to the non-standard upright sizing
As we stated above, the uprights are made of 2 ¼” x 2 ¼“ steel tubing and that's a non-standard size. The standard size of the uprights are 2” X 2” for beginners to intermediate level racks and 3” X 3” for high-end, heavy-duty racks. A few of them may be 2.5” X 2.5” or 2” X 3” uprights but 2 ¼” is an odd size. So, later if you want to replace the j-hooks or add a pair of dip-bars, you will have to buy them from Sunny Health and Fitness.
The Bells of Steel half rack too has the same issue and we don’t like it because it makes us feel as if the companies want us to buy things only from them.
It's not a big deal though because both Bells of Steel and Sunny Health & Fitness sell good quality replacement parts at competitive prices.
Poor quality control and bad shipping are common complains that buyers have regarding the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-BH6802 half rack
Many buyers have reported that they have received severely beaten up packages. Sometimes the package was so badly delivered that the parts inside got some dents and scratches.
Some of them have also stated that they received incomplete packages with missing parts. On top of that, the customer service took weeks to respond and send the missing parts. A few people have shared their experiences on how they have received rusted uprights and bases.
These issues are pretty common and the company hasn’t been doing anything about them for years now. But, as they say, you get what you pay for.
Sunny Health and Fitness doesn’t have a very professional quality control team and we get it. It is, after all, a small-scale company known for selling affordable products. So, maybe you should give it a try and, if you order through Amazon, you can always ask for a refund or replacements in case you get something that doesn’t meet your expectations.
We are giving this a rating of 4 out of 5.0.
Despite the obvious issues that Sunny Health and Fitness SF-BH6802 half rack has, we do recommend it to home gym owners who aren’t too crazy about lifting more and lifting heavy any time soon. It may not be perfect but it works as expected and fits in the budget. And, that’s all that matters.
