Confession Time: I Use Gloves When I Workout

So purists will say just throw on some chalk, grip the bar properly, and be a man.

I hate to say it but I just don’t like not having something protecting my hands when I am lifting. I feel like it just feels better and it gives me better grip strength. Also in my normal career I rely on my hands extensively. So I can’t have them just beat up to hell.

In the end I will gladly turn in my man-card if necessary and continue to use gloves and related grip products. 🙂

Enter the Element 26 Isoprene Polymer Hand Grips

For the past year I had been using a more glove-like product, the Fit Active Sports Gloves. If you want a more glove-like option then they are a great product! They defnitely don’t have a lot of grip though I would say.

Which brings me to the Element 26 Isoprene Polymer Hand Grips.

The moment I put these on and then touched the bar I was surprised by the amount of grip that the leather pads provide.

It’s actually hard not to grip the bar when wearing them.

Here is a quick video I threw together of me gripping the bar with them:

Performance While Actually Lifting

I used the Element 26 Isoprene Polymer Hand Grips for the rest of my workout and I really appreciate the extra grip power it felt like they gave me. I used them for deadlifts and rackpulls and the exercise just felt more stable to me.

But Can You Do Anything Else While Wearing Them?

One problem I have had in the past is putting on gloves that severely restrict my hand movement and do not allow me to my sets/reps/weight into the Strong app.

This was not a problem though with the Element 26 Isoprene Polymer Hand Grips. They can easily be half slipped off in order to use something more delicate like a smart phone.

They also don’t restrict your movement as much in general as something like a heavy glove.

Any Cons?

I have used the grips for several workous now and I can’t find any large issues with them. I am going to continue using them from now on as my primary hand saver.

If I was going to get picky…

I might say that I would think the leather pads could be a bit thicker to cushion your hand more. But maybe this is part of the reason they grip so well!?
