Vertiball Wall Massager Review

So today on Home Gym Strength, we are reviewing this Vertiball Wall Massager. And the fact is, I really wanted to love this thing but it simply doesn’t work for me and I don’t think it’s going to work for a lot of other people either. But we will get into that in a second.

Let’s go over the concept of what this thing is. The idea here is that this is a suction cup wall massager that you stick to your wall and then you use to massage various parts of your body especially the back which is hard to get to on your own. Now you notice the packaging here. It’s very reminiscent of an apple type of packaging but I don’t agree with it with this product because maybe they should have spent a little less on the packaging and lowered the price. This is a massage ball, this isn’t the latest computer or iPhone from Apple so I’m not sure if the packaging that they’re using here is, honestly, a great sign.

Let’s get into, though, the problem I have of this product. So let me kind of set the camera down here, let me rotate it and let me show you how this is supposed to work. So what you’re supposed to do is the bottom cover comes off and this suction cup affixes to your wall. Now to get that to work, you slide this off, this comes down more and then the suction cup can, in theory, suck to your wall. Let’s see what happens when I actually try to do this. Keep in mind that our walls are slightly textured and you can see, there’s really no chance of it sticking there. So that’s the problem with this product. It does not work. So as you can see, these walls are lightly textured. It’s not like popcorn textured or an extreme textured but it's light textured and I think that a lot of houses in the United States are going to have the same problem. It’s only when I was on a high rise where I have walls that are completely flat with no texture and I still don’t think that this thing would suction cup to that. I really don’t think so. I think that you really have to have a pretty smooth surface, almost like a glass or even kind of a surface of a door. I did try to suction cup it to a bathroom door and let me do that next to kind of show you how even that doesn’t quite work out well. So now I’m in front of one of my bathroom doors which is a much smoother surface so let’s see what happens now when I try to attach the Vertiball to it. So I’m pressing down hard, moving this, and so yeah, as you can see, it does not stick. So let’s take it from the dog here and let’s see what happens if we try to go against a completely smooth surface. Now this is the only other option in this house. But notice right away that this is not wide enough and all these are like this so let’s press down on it and no, once again, it does not stick.

So yes, in summary, this Vertiball Wall Massager simply does not work for me. I don't know if I simply do not have the ideal conditions but I did try as you can see, multiple different surfaces and it simply does not stick. Now I know for a fact that it would stick to a window but the windows we have in this house I would not trust sticking a wall massager on them and then somehow try to massage against the windows. That simply would not work. So I wish they would have kind of thought this through a bit more or maybe kind of labeled on the product listing in Amazon somewhere on the title, “Only works for certain surfaces.” because I had no idea. I did look back at the Amazon listing and they say in there that it only works on smooth surfaces but that’s way down the review where you’re not likely to see. I really think what they're kind of hoping here is that you’ll buy this and just simply not return it or maybe you’ll have the type of surface that supports this.

Another crisis I would have of it is that this does not extend out very far from the wall when you do kind of manage to get it on there. That’s like about 6 inches there. I would much rather see it stick out quite a bit more. Also this is a very smooth surface. I would like to see it a bit more of a rubbery type surface.

So with this in mind, I’m going to have to give this thing a 3 out of 5 star review and I think that’s still being very generous here. I’m giving it 3 stars because I think it’s a fantastic idea but it simply doesn’t work for me so I can’t give it any higher than that. Maybe with some other people with better wall surfaces that are more suited for it, it would work for them and hopefully they can get some use out of it. But that’s going to be my final rating – 3 out of 5 stars.

Full Written Review:

Vertiball mountable massager offers Trigger point therapy. It is designed to help you massage the hard-to-reach areas, specifically your back and shoulders but can be used for calves, traps, etc.

It is basically a hard ball that rotates within its socket. You need to mount the socket on the wall using its suction base, so you can lean on it and massage the desired trigger points.

When we first learned about it, we got excited and bought it immediately. We thought we have found the perfect trigger point massage tool that we will be able to use on our own without needing a second person for help.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for us at all.

It would be unfair to say that it is a piece of junk. Vertiball wall massager has received 4.2 star rating from more than 350 reviews. Hundreds of buyers have admitted that despite its flaws, it does the job. However, just like us, many buyers couldn't mount it, which means, they couldn't use it. Some of them were able to mount it only to realize that they have to unmount and store it back when it is not in use. You can’t leave it on the wall or else it will lose its suction, fall off, and may break.

In this blog, we will provide you with a detailed review of the Vertiball wall-mounted massager. We will also explain to you why this most versatile massage tool failed to live up to our expectations and if you should buy it.

Let's start our Vertiball wall massager review by understanding what it is and how it is intended to be used.

Patented wall-mounted massager

This is a Vertiball Wall Massager

Vertiball mountable massager was designed by Curtis Keneddy, a mechanical engineering student at the University of New Brunswick. After spending 4 years of his life being bedridden, Curtis realized the desperate need of a massager that patients like him can stick to the wall and use it instead of bothering their family members who wouldn’t understand how much pressure is needed and the exact spot that needs to be massaged. His innovation was the winner of Canada's Business Model Competition and he got $15,000 for it.

Tennis balls and foam rollers tend to fall or fly off as soon as you loosen the pressure, which happens when you try to change the spot. But, Vertiball stays attached so you can massage and put as much or as less pressure on it.

The manufacturer claims that it has ‘industrial-grade’ strength but we disagree.

If it would have had so much suction power, you should have been able to leave it on its spot for weeks and months. Rather, the manufacturer has mentioned that it mustn’t be left on the wall after use. Instead, you need to unmount it and cover the mounting system with its cap, so it doesn’t lose its power.

Mounting surfaces

This is where it disappoints us and most other buyers. Vertiball wall mount suction massager can be mounted only on extremely smooth, non-porous surfaces such as drywall, painted wood, metal or plastic surfaces, laminates, etc.

Unfortunately, such surfaces are rare in our households. Even if your wall has a very light texture, it won’t stick at all. Watch our video above to see how we struggled with almost all possible surfaces in our house but just couldn’t mount it anywhere. Numerous other buyers have also had similar experiences.

Vertiball sticks to very limited types of surfaces, so if you choose to buy this, make sure you have a wall or a door where you believe you can get the suction to work

Some buyers have stated that they mounted it on their glass doors and some even mounted it on their refrigerator. However, we do not recommend these surfaces as they are not strong enough to bear your body’s pressure.

Ease of use

Vertiball has two parts; one part is the suction base with a cover and the other being the socket with a ball inside it. You need to attach the suction base first and then you need to slide the socket on. Well, that’s pretty easy with no screws or bolts, multiple massage heads, etc.

The only challenge you may face is to get the base stick to the wall, as we described above.

If you can mount it on your wall, it is extremely easy to use and effective too. The massage ball rotates 360 degrees within its socket, allowing you to do micro-movements around the trigger points to increase the effectiveness of the massage. It has a smooth surface and it moves freely inside the socket without any sticking or skipping.

The suction hinge is a bit stiff. You will have to put some effort into operating it and you have to be careful not to break it.

Pros:

  • Compact, lightweight, and portable
  • Effective, as confirmed by hundreds of buyers
  • The ball rolls smoothly in all angles, making it easier to massage a larger area
  • Comes with 30-days money-back guarantee.

Cons:

  • Although being an innovative massage tool, it can stick to very limited surfaces. Even slight texture or minute unevenness is not acceptable by its base, making it extremely difficult for us to find a place where we can mount and use it. This defeats its purpose.
  • We find it pricey. It's just a hard ball mounted on a suction base. Unless you are suffering from back pain and don’t have anyone to help you target those areas, we wouldn’t recommend it to you. Better options are available. You may consider PSO-Spine or the Theracane trigger point massager if you frequently experience stiffness in the back and neck.

Our Rating: 3/5

Our Verdict:

We appreciate the idea behind the Vertiball wall massager but its suction capacity needs to be improved. Because unless it sticks, it’s unusable. We understand that suction bases often do not work on a textured surface but that's what the manufacturer needs to innovate. At least they should stick to wooden doors. With the current design, Vertiball wall massager is not worth buying.
