Home Gym Moving Process: Days 6 & 7 Progress Update

Moving a home gym is no small feat, especially during scorching 95-degree temperatures. After nearly a week of dismantling and relocating equipment, significant progress has been made in clearing out the space.

The rubber mats, which form the foundation of any serious home gym, have been the primary focus over the past two days. These heavy-duty floor protectors are essential for absorbing impact and protecting both equipment and flooring, but their weight and size make them particularly challenging to relocate.

Looking at the current state of the gym shows just how much has been accomplished. What was once a fully-equipped workout space now contains only a few remaining weights kept aside for continued training during the transition. The contrast between the current emptiness and the fully-stocked gym seen in earlier stages is remarkable.

The largest remaining piece of equipment is a machine that still needs to be moved to the storage area. Additionally, there's a collection of accessories waiting to be packed, including:

  • Weight lifting belts
  • Training straps
  • Miscellaneous bars
  • A disassembled squat rack

The extreme heat has made the moving process particularly challenging, especially when transporting heavy equipment to the outdoor storage area. Despite these difficulties, steady progress continues to be made.

When setting up a new gym space after a move, it's important to prioritize which equipment to set up first. Typically, a squat rack, barbell, and weights form the core of any strength training setup and should be among the first items reinstalled.

Moving a home gym requires careful planning, proper equipment to safely transport heavy items, and patience. The process might be grueling, but having a properly set-up training space is well worth the effort for dedicated fitness enthusiasts.
