Garages gather a lot of dust. If you are using it only to park your vehicles or store your old furniture, you may clean it once a week. But if you have converted it into a home gym, you will have to clean it more often because dust can make the floor slippery and your sweat can make it a breeding ground for bacteria. Plus, who would want to exercise in a filthy, stinky, and dirty place!
We have been vacuuming our garage gym with the Ridgid Shop Vac for some time and we are pretty happy with the results. It is well-designed and easy to use with a patented Qwik Lock Filter Fastening System that helps you install or remove your filter instantly.
Although we expected it to have stronger suction, we don’t think it is a dealbreaker considering its low price and high utility value.
Below is our honest Ridgid shop vac review that we have written after using it for months.

What we like about Ridgid shop vac
Don’t worry about finding a specific cabinet or drawer to store the nozzle and wand. Ridgid shop 6 gallons 3.5 hp vacuum has slots in its body where each of them can be accommodated. There aren’t too many accessories but they are easily accessible when needed.
The hose of Ridgid Shop Vac is thick and yet flexible. It has a larger diameter than most other competitive shop vacs. It can pick up decent-sized debris but not the bigger ones. It is dual flex, meaning it can flex it in any direction, making your work easier and quicker. The hose has a lock-in feature, so it won’t come off during use.
Value for money
Cheaper alternatives are available too but they are ‘cheaper’ products with poor suction capacity and build quality.
Its closest competitor in terms of price is Vacmaster 3 Peak HP 5 Gallon Shop Vacuum which has just a 3hp motor. The CRAFTSMAN CMXEVBE17250 shop vac is slightly cheaper but then it uses just a 1.75 hp motor, which isn’t powerful enough to pick up dried leaves and small debris, which are common in garages and shops.
However, please note that you will have to buy extra vacuum bags. You may also have to buy some extra attachments to get to the hard-to-reach areas. But, it is enough for garages and garage gyms.
Another thing that we love about Ridgid is that it offers a comprehensive lifetime warranty on its products. Not many brands do that and those who do, know what they are manufacturing. They are absolutely confident about the quality of products. We admire such brands. Of course, there are some terms and conditions but still, the lifetime warranty makes you feel confident while buying them.
Performance is as expected
As we already mentioned at the beginning of the article, the suction is not as powerful as we had expected from a 3.5hp motor with a 62 CFM speed. But, considering its low price point we don’t mind that.
If you want a stronger suction, you can go with RIDGID 5hp shop vac. But, to be honest, Ridgid 6 Gal. 3.5-Peak HP NXT Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum is enough for garage gyms, especially the ones that are well-insulated and not used for parking vehicles.
Our Rating: 4.5/5
If you are on a budget, which most of us would, this Ridgid Shop Vac is a great option to keep your garage gym clean and dust-free.
Along with vacuuming, make sure you wipe your equipment regularly to disinfect them. Even if you are the only one who is using it, they still have your sweat on them.
