We are a small home gym owner and we have reviewed numerous squat racks/half racks, squat stands, and full racks/squat cages that we believe can be accommodated in basements, garages, and spare rooms that you may have used to create your own workout space. These products are a great investment for almost everyone like us who wants to stay fit and active from the comfort of their home.
However, most of these squat racks/half racks are around 83” tall. This height is enough for pull-ups and strength training but, if you want to do bodyweight crossfit workouts such as kipping moves, you will have to go with even taller options such as Rogue RML-3 Monster Lite Rack that we had reviewed some time ago or the REP Fitness SR 4000 series squat rack that we will be reviewing in this article.
The Rogue RML-3 monster lite squat racks are 91” tall and have a freestanding design, which means you have no option other than bolting them down to the floor. They are pretty expensive too. That’s why we have found this REP Fitness SR 4000 squat rack/half rack for you. It is significantly cheaper and taller than the Rogue RML-3 products. Standing at 103”, it can cater to people taller than 6.3’.
Read on to find out if you should actually go for it.

Quick Review Summary
The REP Fitness SR 4000 series squat rack is probably the tallest rack available in the market. That’s because it is not just designed for weight training but also for crossfit workouts such as kipping, butterfly pullups, gymnastics workouts, etc.
Since it is meant for kipping and other crossfit bodyweight workouts, it is expected to be highly stable. REP Fitness has addressed this requirement by using a really large base and wider footprint. There are weight horns and floor anchoring options that you can use to further enhance its stability.
REP Fitness SR 4000 is a well-built product for its price and is highly recommended for anyone who is into crossfit bodyweight workouts. But, please note that it has a really large footprint and you may not be able to spare enough space for it in your small home gym.
- Highly stable squat rack suitable for bodyweight workouts such as kipping, butterfly pullups, etc.
- Has a thick 3” X3” frame made of high-quality steel
- Features westside hole spacing pattern in benching area
- Can be bolted down for extra stability
- Compatible with products of almost all brands
- Not really suitable for home gyms unless you have a really high ceiling and a large space
We are giving this a rating of 5.0 out of 5.0.
Now on to our full review.

The REP Fitness SR 4000 is super stable
We do not usually recommend half racks for challenging bodyweight exercises such as kipping. That's because half racks are usually not quite as stable as full racks. They are meant for benching and squats but not for crossfit unless you find something unusually large and stable such as this REP Fitness SR 400 series rack.
As you can see in the image above, it has really large legs that extend equally in both directions from the uprights. The longer the legs are, the more stable a squat rack will be.
Along with the large wide legs, the SR 4000 series squat rack from REP Fitness also has triangular gussets that help further stabilize the whole setup. Plus, the frame comes with pre-drilled holes that you can use for anchoring it to the floor or to your weightlifting platform.
Just in case you are interested, here is how you can build a weightlifting platform.
Don’t want to bolt it down? You can weigh it down by organizing your weight plates in the weight horns located at the rear end of the frame.
It is a heavy-duty squat rack and can handle serious lifters with seriously heavy weight
The 3”X3” frame is the widest frame used for making squat racks and cages.
Plus, it is made of 11-gauge steel, which is quite stronger than 12-gauge or 14-gauge steel.
Being thick and heavy, the REP Fitness SR 4000 squat rack is probably one of the few products that you can trust for calisthenics. Squat racks that are made of thinner frames may not give you enough confidence to swing on them.
The SR-4000 rack is compatible with almost all accessories designed for 3”x 3” frames
We highly admire brands that do not make buyers feel stuck with them.
For example; HulkFit uses non-standard holes in its squat racks.
So, you have no option other than buying the accessories from the same brand or maybe you can experiment with some lesser-known Chinese companies.
But, that's not the case with REP Fitness. The holes are of standard size and so is the frame. So, compatibility isn’t going to be an issue.
The frame has holes for adding the resistance band pegs
And we love that! The SR 4000 series squat rack is not only for weight training but also for calisthenics and resistance training.
We recently came up with an extensive guide on how to create a home gym with resistance bands. That should help you understand how you can do full body resistance training on the days when you don’t want to work with weights. We have also selected some of the best loop bands and best resistance bands for you. If you are looking for high-quality resistance bands, you can go with Rogue Fitness bands instead.
The quality of the j-hooks could have been better
The j-hooks that you get with the REP Fitness SR 4000 series rack are the same ones that the manufacturer uses in its standard squat racks and cages such as Rep Fitness PR-1100 Squat Rack. And, those j-hooks are definitely not something that we admire.
They are narrower than what we prefer. Plus, the plastic doesn’t really seem to be the UHMW plastic that is used in most good quality j-hooks. It won’t last beyond a year of decent use. Thankfully, you don't need to buy replacement hooks from REP Fitness. We would recommend you to go with Yes4All replacement j-hooks or any compatible product that you like from our list of best replacement j-hooks.
We are giving this a rating of 5.0 out of 5.0.
If you are looking for a highly stable, strong, and reliable squat rack/half rack for a wide range of crossfit exercises, especially calisthenics and gymnastics, you probably shouldn’t have to look for any other product. The REP Fitness SR 4000 should be the best option for you. But, please understand that it is a huge rack and requires a lot of space vertically as well as horizontally.
