Weightlifting shoes should have a wider toe box so you can splash your toes as much as you can. This will help you push the floor with more force and ensure better stability.
So, does that mean the weightlifting shoes we have listed above are uncomfortable and unsafe?
Well, they aren’t. But, please note that they are very basic shoes recommended for beginners and recreational lifters. They are a good option if you are lifting 150-200 lbs. Just in case you don’t know, weightlifting shoes are intentionally designed to have a high heel, so they can help you squat deep even if you don’t have enough ankle flexibility. Plus, a high heel also helps you push the floor with more force, which, in turn, helps you lift better and heavier.
But, the high heel will also make you feel as if you are being pushed forward. Do you think you will be able to do a fast-paced cardio workout like the Insanity cardio, power, and resistance exercises?
We bet you won’t. You will end up tripping over and hurting yourself.
Another reason why we do not recommend these Nordic lifting shoes for cardio and crossfit is that they have a rigid, hard sole. So, they won’t be able to provide any cushioning to your joints. Moreover, these shoes are stiffer than running and crosstraining shoes. Even if you try to use them for running or jacks, you won’t be able to do so.
