Jeff Nippard's Training Programs - A Review

Jeff Nippard, the 31 year old modern-day Hercules, is a role model for millions of people who want to build an enviable drug-free body.  He has set unbelievable PRs in strength training, which includes 518 lbs deadlift, 502lbs squat, and 336 lbs deadlift. With more than 2.7 million social media followers, his science-based workout videos on YouTube have received huge appreciation from not just fitness enthusiasts but also other celebrity trainers.

In this article, I will be providing you with an overview of his programs and their pros and cons, so you can decide if they are suitable for you.

What are Jeff Nippard training programs?

Jeff Nippard training programs

At the time of writing of this article, Jeff Nippard has created 16 different workout programs, which include strength training and powerbuilding programs, specific programs for shoulders, arms, back, forearms, chest, etc., and exclusive programs for females.

Unlike Insanity cardio, power, and resistance programs, the Jeff Nippard programs are exclusively meant for strength trainers and require you to have a dedicated home gym with all necessary equipment. Most of these workouts are meant for intermediate to advanced trainers. The Fundamentals Hypertrophy Program is the only beginner-friendly program he has created so far. The High Frequency Full-Body Program is his most popular program so far.

Jeff highly recommends that you should have at least two years of strength training experience to be able to successfully complete most of his programs.

What home gym equipment you may need for the Jeff Nippard training programs?

Preparing for Jeff Nippard training program

It depends on the program that you want to go with. However, here is a brief list of things that I believe you would need for most of them.

What I like about Jeff Nippard programs?

They are very detailed and science-backed

Jeff is a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry. And, he has used his knowledge for creating science-backed programs that actually work. His programs aren’t based on his personal experience. Rather, they are full of scientific evidence that prove why and how each of those exercises are effective.

I admire him for coming up with science-backed workout programs during this time when Youtube and other online spaces are full of videos that are just based on personal experience and preference without providing any explanation about the rationale behind choosing the specific exercises.

Jeff not only explains the anatomy of each exercise but also teaches the right technique and educates about the common errors people make. He helps trainers feel the muscles that are engaged in a specific exercise. The in-depth information helps people stay motivated during the workout.

They provide enough substitutions and modifications, just in case you are unable to do a specific exercise

If you are recovering from an injury or have balance/stamina issues, don’t worry. Each program consists of a wide variety of exercises, so you won’t get bored doing the same reps again and again. Plus, most exercises come with one or more variations, giving you the flexibility to do the one that best suits you. If you are unable to do any variation, don’t worry; the programs often come with substitutes, so you won’t feel left out.

Who shouldn’t go for Jeff Nippard programs?

If you don’t have good stamina and strength, you may find them too difficult to complete successfully

As I said above, most of the workouts are meant for intermediate to advanced trainers who are already training hard.

Some users have stated that the programs are quite challenging and not many intermediate-level trainers would be able to complete them without risking a strain or injury. Each workout lasts 60 to 90 minutes and you have to practice for at least 5 days a week (depending on which program you choose). The programs are sometimes so high-paced that you may not recover properly between each rep and sometimes you may not even recover properly between two sessions!

To practice Jeff Nippard workouts, you should have a proper home gym with all basic equipment

Depending on which program you choose, you will have to accessorize your home gym with dumbbells, barbells, LAT machines, benches, squat racks, etc.

If you have a compact home gym, accommodating so many things may not be possible for you. Plus, these things require a significant investment. Jeff does offer alternative workouts but sometimes they are not as good/effective as the primary ones.

The workouts are of 60 to 90 minutes, so they may not be suitable for people who have a rather busy schedule

Most people prefer workouts that take not more than 30-45 minutes because that's the max people can comfortably accommodate in their routine. Longer workouts are only possible during weekends or holidays.

Jeff Nippard programs are, however, longer. You need to have at least 2 hours for them, which includes the warm up, workout, cool down, changing clothes, and doing a quick deep tissue massage for faster recovery. If you don’t have that much time, you should rather look for other options.

My rating: 4.5/5

Wrap Up:

Jeff Nippard workouts are thoughtfully-crafted programs to help you achieve your goals with precision. But, they are quite intense and demanding and not everyone will like it.

I believe they are more suitable for aspiring powerlifters, bodybuilders, and athletes. They are not for people like you and me. I am not someone who is obsessed with doing crazier workouts every day, even if they give me panic attacks. I rather want to enjoy every minute in my home gym because my objective is to stay healthy and not get into an unwanted competition of lifting heavier than everyone around me.
