Disappointing quality control and horrible customer service

So all told, it took about 1 month for me to get the plate rack shipped to me. Now not all of this was because of the global pandemic we have going on right now. Most of it was actually because Amazon sent me out a box with a plate rack having just one of the feet available. I then decided to follow the instructions in the box and contacted Cap Barbell themselves to see if they can send me out an extra foot. Unfortunately, CAP Barbell did not get back to me for over a week and a half. Not a single response and when I tried to call their phone number, the mailbox was full and not taking any new messages. So I can definitely say that their Customer Service experience is not great! Eventually, I decided to simply contact Amazon and get a replacement rack shipped back out. Amazon did this and I got the new rack within a week! Thanks, Amazon!

Easy to put together

So I do have to say that the new rack I got in was very easy to put  together. All you really have to do is connect the feet by screwing in the bolts and the knots and you’re ready to go.

Solidly built but not as heavy duty as a commercial stand

Another thing I’m going to say about this rack is while it does feel solid, it does also wobble a bit as you put weight on it and it’s obvious it’s not as heavy duty as a commercial rack that you would see in one of your modern global gyms. This is to be expected though and I didn’t expect something that was gonna be super heavy duty. Especially for this price.

A good option for the price

So as I alluded to,  this rack is a great option for the price. You get a lot of value here for a rack that ships to you relatively quickly and is less than a $100. Just be aware that there can be shipping and quality control issues. Also keep in mind that the manufacturer seems to be having problems right now responding to customer service issues. Now there’s never an excuse for this, especially in today’s world where it’s relatively easy to hire additional people quickly but it is also somehow understandable given the climate that we’re currently in.

Summary: So overall, it’s a great option for the price and we highly recommend it. Just be aware of shipping and quality control issues. Also, don’t count on CAP Barbell to be able to help you quickly if you have any issues. We recommend contacting Amazon as usual to get things sorted out.

  1. Very affordable price – maximizes your value.
  2. Easy to put together and seems solidly built when considering the price.

  1. Quality control, customer service and shipping issues lower the rating.
  2. Could be a little more heavy duty, and if so, it would probably be a 5 out of 5.
