Rep Fitness PR 4000 is one of the best value, higher-end power racks we have come across

You can buy these in 4-posts and in 6-posts design. The 6 ones (see the image below) are basically extensions for storing weights so you don’t have to bolt the rack to the floor. However, we (and the manufacturer) still strongly recommend anchoring it to the floor/training platform to eliminate even the slightest possible wobble.

If you live in a rented house and there is no way you can anchor it, you must buy an additional foot extension and rear base stabilizer bar along with the weight storage post so it doesn’t tip over. As you can see in the image below, the foot extensions are also as thick and heavy-duty as the uprights. They have a long base that can also be anchored if needed. They also have holes so you can add band pegs or a landmine attachment

When it comes to accessorizing the Rep Fitness PR 4000 squat rack, you have plenty of options to choose from. You can add a LAT tower later, when you have the budget. You can choose from various types of pull up bars such as standard 1.25” pull up bar, 2” one, multi grip one, or a globe grip pull bar. You can also choose from standard, flat, or sandwich j-cups. Since the holes are laser-cut, you don’t necessarily have to stick to REP accessories. You can buy any accessories of your choice from any brand that is compatible with 3” X 3” post and ⅝” hole sizing.

If you have a small home gym, you can go with the most basic 4-post short and least wide rack. Or else, feel free to choose the taller one and any depth that suits you best.

Assembly is easy and comes with detailed instructions. Shipping is good too, which is a great thing because a lot of export products often arrive in beaten boxes.

REP Fitness PR 4000 versus Rogue Monster lite and Monster series racks

Rep RP 4000 and Rogue Monster Lite squat racks are almost the same. Both of them are made of 3” X 3” 11 gauge steel frame. They are rated for 1000lbs and you can customize their color. They accept ⅝” hardware and come with basic safety add-ons and j-hooks.

Rogue Monster lite squat racks, however, need to be bolted down to the floor. There is no other way you can use them. Rep Fitness PR 4000 can be used without anchoring it to the floor provided you buy the rear stability bar separately. However, we strongly recommend that you must bolt it for your own safety.

Rep Fitness PR 4000 provides more customization options than Rogue. You can choose the depth, the height, the weight storage option, the type of pullup bar you want to use, etc. Plus, you only pay for what you want to add to your rack.

Rogue, however, sells everything separately, so the final price that you will be paying could be more than what you see on its website. Moreover, Rogue’s prices are anyways much higher than that of the Rep Fitness products.

Talking about Rogue Monster series racks; they accept 1” hardware, so they are competitive alternatives to Rep Fitness PR 5000, not the 4000 one.

REP Fitness PR 4000 versus PR 5000 power cages

The difference between these two products is almost the same as the difference between Rogue’s Monster lite and Monster series products.

The PR 4000 power rack has ⅝” hardware holes whereas the PR 5000 has 1” holes. Moreover, the PR 4000 doesn’t have as many holes in the sides of the uprights as its bigger brother has, which means you can add fewer accessories to it. Well, that's not a major issue because it is anyways meant for recreational athletes.

Wondering if the hardware size actually makes any difference?

Well, the bigger the hardware, the stronger they will be. If you are an advanced trainer, a bodybuilder, or a person who is into a profession where he is required to train hard, these hardware are more reliable than the standard ⅝” ones.

Wrap Up

Rep Fitness PR 4000 power cage is a great product for lifters on a budget. It is less expensive than the similar products sold by Rogue and probably that’s why the accessories and add-ons feel slightly cheaper. But, that’s not an issue with us because we are not bodybuilders. We are fitness freaks who love to have our own workout space just like you do.
