Full Written Review:
Also known as double lacrosse balls, the peanut massage balls are an excellent tool for relieving spinal tension and increasing thoracic mobility. These massage tools combine the benefit of a foam roller and lacrosse ball and help improve muscle recovery after intense workout sessions.
As obvious from their name, these double lacrosse balls are shaped like peanuts, making them highly effective and comfortable for massaging the spinal muscles.
Foam rollers are quite uncomfortable to be used on the back and lacrosse balls are too small. They will either fly away or slip off while massaging the back.
Peanut massage balls have a gap between the spheres. This design helps keep the pressure off the spine while massaging the muscles that run along it, making it more effective than the other spinal massage tools. Further, their shape makes them fit perfectly around your neck, making them suitable for massaging the neck too.
Peanut massage balls are available in a wide variety of textures, firmness, and sizes. Some have textured surfaces whereas some are smooth. Some are inexpensive and conventional but many others are ridiculously expensive and they have a vibrating feature.
We haven’t tried too many of them, so we won’t be able to honestly tell you which one is the best. But, we are in love with the 5Billion Peanut massage ball. We have been using it for weeks now and we are highly impressed with its effectiveness.
In this blog, we will brief you more about its built quality, durability, effectiveness, and other features so you can decide if you should give it a try.
Key features of 5Billion peanut massage ball

- Has a smooth texture
- Can be used by standing against a wall or by laying on it

The 5Billion Peanut massage ball is a very basic tool with standard dimensions. The balls are pretty much like lacrosse balls, offering the same level of firmness. Although the design is pretty standard, it is contoured to cradle the spinal bones and let the spheres dig and massage the muscles connected to it.
What we love about this inexpensive spinal massage tool is that it is totally latex-free and odorless. Plus, it is compact and portable. You can carry it to your gym or during your trips.
Some buyers have complained that it is smaller than what they had expected. Well, it is sized appropriately to fit well under your neck. It might look small for the spine but it does a pretty good job.
Ease of use
As mentioned above, it has an absolutely smooth surface. But, don’t worry, it won’t fly off or roll away because the surface is quite grippy. We tried using it against the wall. It held up pretty well; a tennis ball would have fallen to the floor.
It has an excellent weight-bearing capacity, so you can put your entire weight on it without bothering about it splitting off from the middle.
More than 90% of buyers have rated it 4-stars and above. Thousands of buyers swear by this product for relieving tension around the base of the skull, in the neck, upper back, lower back, elbows, shoulders, etc. We too have used it for weeks before writing this review, so we can bet that it does work as intended.
We wouldn’t claim that it is better than a lacrosse ball or a foam roller. Because each of them has a very specific use. This one is specifically meant for massaging the spine, the neck, and the muscles around the base of the skull. And, it does an excellent job.
5Billion peanut massage ball is meant for myofascial muscle release around these above-mentioned muscle groups. If you need trigger point massage in the neck or back, you can try Davinci neck massage tool, which is equally good. You may also try PSO-Spine, another top-rated trigger point massager. But, it is specifically designed for massaging the spine. You won’t find it comfortable for neck massage.
Value for money
If you compare 5Billion Peanut massage balls with lacrosse balls, you will probably find them over-priced. But, it works and that’s all that matters! As we said above, there are only a handful of neck massage tools that work and this is one of them. So, it is totally worth its price.
- Made of 100% natural rubber. Odor-free and durable.
- Can be wiped clean with a wet cloth or even washed under the tap. Maintaining its hygiene is easy so can be used by more than one person.
- Highly effective for massaging the neck and spinal muscles.
- The 5Billion peanut massage ball generates a lot of static electricity and picks up a lot of pet hair. Thankfully, you can rinse it under the faucet and dry it with a towel. But, it can also catch the fine hair around your neck and pull them out, causing discomfort and irritation. We don’t know how to fix this issue but tying your hair up can help.
- Some buyers found it too hard to be used on the neck. Well, we found it absolutely comfortable but maybe many of us would want something softer. It’s a personal choice.
If you are looking for softer peanut massage balls, you can check out the ALLPLAY Peanut Shape Self Massage Rollers. They come in packs of two; one is soft and the other one is firm. They are made of thermoplastic rubber, so the cost of the pack is cheaper than the price of a 5Billion peanut massage ball. RAD Roller peanut massage balls are also available in three different densities but they are expensive.
Our Rating: 5/5
5Billion Peanut Massage ball deserves a 5-star rating. We have been using it for quite some time and haven’t had any issue with it. Cheaper options are available though.
